DIY Lip Scrub - FriYAY DIY!

DIY Lip Scrubs are a simple and effective way to care for your lips and keep them feeling soft and smooth right at home! Here are a few benefits of using a DIY Lip Scrub:
  • Exfoliation: Just like the rest of your skin, your lips can benefit from exfoliation. A lip sugar scrub can help to remove dead skin cells, leaving your lips feeling smoother and softer.
  • Improved circulation: The gentle massaging motion used when applying a lip sugar scrub can help to increase blood flow to the lips, which can help to keep them looking healthy and plump.
  • Hydration: Many lip sugar scrubs contain moisturizing ingredients, such as oils or butters, which can help to nourish and hydrate the lips.
  • Prevention of chapped: Chapped lips can be painful and uncomfortable, and a lip sugar scrub can help to prevent them by keeping the lips exfoliated and moisturized.
  • Easy to make: Lip sugar scrubs are easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. This can be a fun and cost-effective way to pamper your lips.
Using a DIY Lip Scrub can help to exfoliate, moisturize, and improve the overall health of your lips. So why not give it a try and see the difference it can make?

Making DIY Lip Scrub

Here's a simple recipe for a simple DIY Lip Scrub that you can make at home:
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar (almost any kind will work! -- see the Tips for Making DIY Lip Scrubs below)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of coconut oil (alternatives: almond, olive, or avocado oil -- whatever you have on hand!)
Instructions:
  1. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, honey, and coconut oil until well combined.
  2. Wet your lips slightly with water.
  3. Take a small amount of the scrub mixture and gently massage it onto your lips in a circular motion for about 30 seconds.
  4. Rinse off the scrub with lukewarm water and pat your lips dry.
  5. Follow up with your favorite lip balm to keep your lips hydrated.
Use this lip scrub about once a week to keep your lips soft and smooth. You can also customize the scrub by using different types of sugar or by adding a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Enjoy!

Tips for Making Your Lip Scrub

There are several types of sugar that can be used in a DIY Lip Scrub depending on your desired outcome and skin needs:
  • White granulated sugar: fine and gentle enough to exfoliate the lips without causing irritation.
  • Brown sugar: softer and more moisturizing than white sugar, which makes it great for dry and chapped lips.
  • Turbinado sugar: similar to brown sugar, it has larger crystals that provide a more intense exfoliation.
  • Raw sugar: has larger crystals than white sugar and is known for its natural moisturizing properties.
  • Demerara sugar: is a type of raw sugar that is known for its golden color and slightly larger crystals.
All of the above-mentioned types of sugar can be used in lip scrubs, but it's important to keep in mind that if you have sensitive lips, it's best to use sugar with smaller crystals. You can even combine more than one sugar to really customize it!
Bonus tip: Add a drop or two of Peppermint essential oil for a natural lip plumper!
